I love spending time with myself. All I did on my day off was wander around markets aimlessly, munch down fresh hoki and chips near the local harbour and scooter around in the beautiful weather until I found a secluded jetty to sunbathe on.

missing you
I was writing a few postcards today to my loved ones in wet n' wild Wellington and realised how much I missed the company of certain girls. I was left pondering on the word MISSING so I grabbed the old dictionary and looked up its definition. It made me feel so sad!! Like I couldn't find my girls and I had lost them for good!
I now vow to never miss again. Just love. :p
Missing
[mis-ing]
–adjective

she's your prostitute...
Lykke Li
What makes Lykke Li so likable you ask?
It may be her sweet and innocent sounding voice, in contrast the strong sexual lyrics she uses or it may well be her olsen-like fashion sense.
What captures me about Lykke Li is that I can visualize her shopping for second hand clothes with a couple of hot foreign friends dressed like hippies. I can see her pulling out the same dance moves as in her music videos but to her favorite tunes at some auspicious local cafe where all the "cool" kids go. She would speak her mind and sometimes come across a bit blunt. You could see her doing lines of white powder while all her unmatched bracelets and large rings bang on the mirror. Her heart would easily be broken because she would always go for the bad guys and she would be a little bit insecure always applying a little bit more black eyeliner in the uncleaned girls bathroom mirror.
Have a listen to her new song below and i'll let you decide whether she prefers a bottle of cold pilsner or a glass of fine merlot...

Dont pull your pants before i go down
Dont turn away this is my time
Dont make demands I dont take none
Just say a prayer that it gone get done
Dont pull your pants before i go down
Dont turn away this is my time
Like the shotgun need an outcome
I'm your prostitute, you gon get some
Like the shotgun need an outcome
I'm your prostitute, you gon get some
Go head go away low, but here i can do no harm
Go ahead go away low in my honey lovin arms
Go ahead go away low, where i can do no wrong
Got you around my finger like a lonely lovers charm
like a lonely lovers charm
And cause i can I'm gon' got west
Just like a man Im the fortress
Like the shotgun I cant be outdone
I'm your prostitute, you gon' get some
Like the shotgun needs an outcome
I'm your prostitue, you gone get some
Go head go away low, but here i can do no harm
Go ahead go away low in my honey lovin arms
Go ahead go away low, where i can do no wrong
Got you around my finger like a lonely lovers charm

evidence of a good night...
so about time to debrief on my birthday celebrations....
it was a very lovely night thanks to my brilliant friends.. alice, the white queen and a few queen of hearts turned up. there were enough rabbits around for everyone to take one home and there were plenty of mad hatters and a couple of cheshire cats and even lady gaga made an appearance!
what also added to the greatness was the amount of randoms that arrived! the place was packed out with a crowd of about eighty.. the dj and his set up could not have been better, but my favorite part was the secret punch! and yes it got out of hand.
with the remainder of a couple friends towards the end of the night, we ended up heading to a bar called alice (very fitting as the theme was alice in wonderland and i was alice for the night) and managed to end it with several rounds of teapots (cocktails served as tea!).

for andy
tonight to celebrate a wonderful friends birthday, a group of us went to the local comedy festival. sadly there were not as many laughs as i would have wished there were. it could of been my state of mind or the fact that i am so run down.
but i think it may have been a lack of alcoholic beverages... which makes me sound like a true alcoholic! I seriously doubt this is the case... even though this idea is questionable. I have narrowed it down to the acts on stage. I'm not sure about the rest of you, but i personally don't find girls as entertaining as the male gender. am i missing something? i sound horribly sexist! - which i assure you (well i think) I'm not!
the other male acts were ok, nothing to rave about, got a few giggles out of me, but I'm generally easy to please (like a puppy).
so the reason for this random description of a very average night is due to a friend (andy) who convinced me i was only allowed to leave him at the gig if i went home and devoted a post to him. so here you go andy.

the dog days are over...
when florence and the machine arrived in my life, I found what was missing.
she described herself in Teen Vogue as “a choir girl gone horribly, desperately wrong.”
my description of her...
a wild fiery red head with a catastrophic choir instrumental sound, vocals from a venus goddess, should of been born in the 70's, dances around in fields of green and brown, has a bohemic feel to her with a dark twist of a grim fairy tale, her videos portraying her skipping and drinking tea before being sent off to sea in a coffin.
I LOVE her.
I want to be her.
she is my girl crush.
so please enjoy her twisted love songs and let me know if you feel the same...
p.s. the xx does a cover of you've got the love.

xx
the xx makes some of my favourite sounds right now. i haven't been able to pick a favorite song because it changes everyday.
the combination of male and female vocals make the xx signature sound and its addictive beat blended with the right instrumentals make you fall in love with them.
today's favorite lyrics are:
you, you still have all the answers
and you, you still have them too
and we, we live half in the day time
and we, we live half at night
watch things on VCRs, with me and talk about big love
I think we're superstars, you say you think we are the best thing
but you, you just know, you just do
when i find myself by the sea, in another's company by the sea
when I go out the pier, gonna die and have no fear
because you, you just know, you just do
watch things on VCRs, with me and talk about big love
I think we're superstars, you say you think we are the best thing
but you, you just know, you just do

fush an' chups
the best thing to do in New Zealand?
apart from visit the mountains and swim in the sea.. you must .. you MUST get some fish and chips and smother them in watties tomato sauce and devour them where you have a view of the ocean.
we did this a hungover sunday ago...
above from top:
laura-kate and our "chups"
the midnight bloom and her beach halo inspired from the seaweed.. hehe
cute couple joel and tiare with the tomato sauce
gemstar and her summer ice cream
p.s. for all those who are a bit confused... i say fush an' chups due to the way our accent sounds when we kiwi's say fish and chips.
